About this blog
Hi there! I’m Rina.
I came to the UK on a Youth Mobility Scheme (YMS) visa to live with my British boyfriend, even though I could barely speak any English at the time.
It all started when I began thinking about marriage and thought, “Before making any big decisions, why not try living together in his country first.”
Living in a place with a completely different culture and language means every day is full of little discoveries for me.
In this blog, I’ll be sharing :
- Things I wish I’d known before moving to the UK.
- Whether someone with poor English (like me!) can really survive living abroad?
- My favorite spots and cafes I’ve discovered in the UK
- Records of city walks, small adventures, and day trips.
- About long-distance-relationships
- The culture differences between Japan – the UK that I’ve noticed through daily life.
… and much more!
From the fun memories and surprising discoveries, to the things I never expected, and even the moments when things didn’t go as planned — I’ll write it honestly and as things happen🇬🇧
I’d love to casually capture and share those little everyday moments through photos and words here.
Looking forward to having you along for the journey — please be kind to me! 🕊️

Name : Rina
Age : 26
Education: Master’s degree in Japan🎓
After graduating, I taught Japanese as a language teacher in Chinese university.
My student days? Honestly, not much romance. But in grad school, out of nowhere, I matched with a British guy on a dating app — and boom, an unexpected British boyfriend!
We did long-distance for nearly two years (Japan ↔︎ UK, China ↔︎ UK) , and now we’re happily living together here in the UK☕️🍃
